One of the most common statements I hear is:
“The healthiest person in the family becomes the problem because they stop participating in unhealthy family rules.”
There is truth in that.
But I also think it’s incomplete.
I wasn’t the healthiest person in my family.
I had the lowest self-esteem.
I lived in survival mode.
I struggled with anxiety.
I constantly questioned myself.
I reacted from fear more than peace.
From the outside, I probably looked like the most broken one.
Healing changed that.
As I healed, my mind became healthier.
I no longer needed to participate in unhealthy patterns just to keep the peace.
That wasn’t because I had always been healthy.
It was because I finally became healthier.
Sometimes the person labeled “the problem” isn’t the healthiest person.
Sometimes they’re simply the first one who begins healing.
And once healing changes the way you think, the old family system often doesn’t know what to do with the new version of you.
